Bell’s Believers was formed in 2015 to support the strength, courage and determination of an 11-year-old girl from Massachusetts named Annabel May, who was diagnosed with pediatric MS late last year. Since her diagnosis, Annabel has undergone numerous medical interventions and has spent many days going in and out of Boston for appointments. However, instead of becoming discouraged, she gets up each day and fights. Despite the physical and cognitive challenges she now faces, she continues to thrive in all that she does. Annabel now has to work twice as hard in all aspects of life: as an athlete skating twice as hard as the girl on the ice next to her, as a student studying twice as hard for her tests, and as a performer trying twice as hard to remember her lines. Having to work harder, however, has not stopped her. Until there is a cure, Annabel will get up each day and live by the motto she established when she was diagnosed: “I am going to fight this!”
Children account for approximately 10% of all MS cases, and significant research efforts are required to address the careful diagnosis and treatments that are unique from adult MS.
All funds raised by Bell’s Believers will directly impact the Pediatric division of the National MS Society and support the cutting-edge research and life-changing programs desperately needed for children with MS.
